Lake Tahoe is a fab destination wedding retreat for most couples, but for Erin and Ryan it was coming full circle to where they first met and became sweethearts. Over a decade earlier, they both worked at the famous Sunnyside Restaurant on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. Little did they know that what began with a fun mountain bike ride, would start a friendship that turned into a love match.
Their exquisite autumn wedding was nothing less than the best that fall splendor can deliver. From the warm temps to the glassy Lake, everything was absolutely perfect for their family and friends. Both are of the greatest importance to Erin and Ryan. This could be seen throughout their special day from pivotal roles in the ceremony to their 20 member wedding party which also included the 4 legged type – Izzy, their tail wagging dog! Not to mention their grandiose head table seated 50!
Ryan, an accomplished singer and musician, surprised Erin by singing his vows in an original song also written by him. He learned to play the piano in order to delight his new wife. It was one of the most magical ceremony moments we have been privy to witness.
Their stylish wedding color palette was perfect for a splendid September fall day – marsala, ivory, burgundy, taupe, sable brown and greens. Details of their beautiful Lake Tahoe wedding included organic elements of birch, manzanita branches, eucalyptus, pine cones, log stumps and berries which contrasted with the beautiful floral blooms and shimmery accented wedding decor. The knot California Magazine selected this inspirational wedding to be in their current Spring/Summer 2016 issue.
The “Mara-rita” was the specialty cocktail of the evening and guests could also sample Napa wine from mini-wine barrels (so quaint!). Guests were also tempted by a gourmet S’mores station later in the evening along with delicious tiramisu and a wedding cake. The S’mores fire pit was none the less a recycled washer drum!
Congratulations to Erin and Ryan, we are very honored to have been a part of your special day!

When most people think of Lake Tahoe weddings, images of a bride and groom next to the dazzling blue lake come to mind but there is another love affair some have with this natural beauty – its woodland forests!
New Yorkers Sarah and Tom were enchanted with the towering pines and mystical forest setting of this private estate. The feel and natural aesthetic was exactly what they had in mind for their ideal wedding venue. On their wedding day, their 100 guests were treated to their whimsical forest wedding complete with a beautiful view of the lake too.
We designed the outdoor reception with details such as twinkling string lights, rows of dark wood farm tables contrasted by light wood chairs and fun decorated chalk boards to complement the natural forest landscape. Touches of lavender, rose and sky blue softened and romanticized the wedding day.
Junebug Weddings skipped at the chance to feature this Tahoe wedding in all its woodland wonder and we think it will add that little extra pop to your day too!

The Lake Tahoe wedding of Katie and James is currently seen among the Real Weddings in the Knot Weddings California 2015 Fall/Winter magazine but their love story began when they met in college at UCLA. James was on the basketball team and Katie was on the dance team. They started dating their sophomore year and have been best friends ever since.
Their June lakefront wedding in Lake Tahoe was ripe with summery color – light pink, coral, raspberry, cranberry, spring green, hunter green all complimented by shimmery gold tones and dark wood. Held lakeside at the West Shore Café, they shared their vows at the water’s edge and dined later on the perfectly lighted and decorated patio.
Dinner was full of excitement including personalized candy-filled mugs sporting Katie’s photo as daddy’s little girl for each guest. A surprise for her by, whom else, but her dad. Katie’s younger brother wrote and sang a song (while playing guitar!) just for her. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place when he finished. James and his mom danced what has to be one of the best Mom/Son dances I have ever seen.
Their beautiful wedding party makes the best dressed list with the bridesmaids turning heads in short olive lace dresses by Diane Von Furstenberg and the groomsmen sporting khaki seersucker suits – complete with suspenders and bow ties! – by Joseph A Bank.
We will feature more summery and lovely photos from the wedding of Katie and James in our Part II…

Sometimes simplicity is best. A classic navy, yellow and white wedding color palette with organic green touches created the perfect lakefront setting for Kate and Neel’s Lake Tahoe wedding. Hailing from the grand Lone Star State, they brought a small entourage into town including their hometown pastor. With 145 guests in attendance, their wedding transcended beyond their wedding day into a memorable vacation for all.
From arguably the largest wedding party ever (we love you guys, really!) coupled with the fabulous House Party gals too (it’s a southern thing), a megaphone could have been used for the ceremony rehearsal. Their wedding celebrations started with a bang and the small party never ended!
And this small party grew into a loved-filled celebration honoring Kate and Neel the following day. Tears, hugs and laughter made their wedding day unforgettable.
Everything is big in the state of Texas and our lovely Texan couple didn’t disappoint by adding their personal touches through-out their Lake Tahoe wedding. Kate’s lovely cascading bouquet was simply composed of all phalaenopsis orchids, a 3-tiered cinnamon roll groom’s cake (with not a crumb remaining), a 10 piece band kept the energy level off the charts and then topping the evening – the late night departure in a red vintage convertible cadillac…
Our faces ached at the end of the night from smiling and laughing so much and we know that we weren’t the only ones! Congratulations to Kate and Neel!
Yes, that is the wedding party!

When Catering Magazine came calling last fall to find out what new innovative and emerging trends we are seeing in the wedding industry for their current issue, we were more than happy to divulge one of our favorites of the year at Merrily Wed®.
The wedding reception, whether a destination wedding or in your hometown, offers many opportunities to really personalize this portion of your wedding day. There are many different styles of receptions to choose from – plated, buffet, family style and action stations are the most common.
Our favorite new innovation actually solves a problem we have seen with the increasingly popular Family Style reception – where to put the food platters without disrupting the gorgeous tablescape? Read on as our wedding design solution is not only functional but stylish!
